Agroforestry Field Extension Officer

Job Purpose

ETG Climate Solutions is looking for dedicated Field Officers to support the implementation of various field activities for an agroforestry project, including a cookstove component.

Field Officers will be responsible for facilitating all field operations for participant farmer groups to ensure successful implementation of project strategies and translating community needs into project objectives.

Location: The positions will be based within the project districts (Mchinji, Ntchisi, Kasungu, Salima & Dowa).

Duties and Responsibilities

Core duties include, but are not limited to:

• Implement field activities according to the project guidelines and workplan
• Identify appropriate farmer participants
• Organize and support the logistics of farmer groups
• Facilitate trainings for farmer groups from locally appropriate training materials
• Provide consistent technical support of farmer participants
• Conduct all data collection and monitoring of farmers and farmer groups
• Provide interim reports on various field activities
• Assist in processing administrative requests/documents
• Assist in procurement of all items for the program and tree nursery
• Assist in producing quality deliverables on time
• Assist in the procurement of all items for the agroforestry program and tree nurseries

Qualifications and Requirements

• A certificate (diploma preferred) in agroforestry, agriculture, natural resources management or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years’ proven experience as a Field Extensionist or similar role
• Experience in field data collection
• Strong understanding of agroforestry and sustainable farming practices in Malawi.
• Ability to facilitate and train farmers and farmer groups.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people, including local communities, government agencies and international project team.
• Experience working closely with local government offices and village leadership in rural development programs/projects in Malawi
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner
• Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Fluent in English (both speaking and writing)
• In possession of a valid Motorcycle license is a MUST
• Flexible in terms of traveling, living conditions and working hours
• Must be a citizen of Malawi
