Reporting directly to the Technical Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will among other duties, be responsible for the following:-
Key responsibilities include:-
- Prepare and review financial statements, control environments, SOPs and Process Improvements.
- Manage asset and lease accounting
- Support capital expenditure and project finance processes.
- Ensure a strong internal control environment and support the organization’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Performing technical accounting reviews
- Assessing journal entries and key controls.
- Documenting processes, and supporting control testing to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes
- Bachelors Degree in Accountancy and ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in controls, technical, or audit and accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of asset accounting, depreciation, and capital project finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into financial terms.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Integrity, trustworthy and ethically upright professional in good standing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi.
