VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: FIELD OFFICER

In its efforts to ensure the provision of quality health services, MDCHC wishes to recruit a Field Officer for its water project, based in Embangweni.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate field operations for the water project.
  • Conduct regular field visits to verify the quality and accuracy of data collected by the programme team.
  • Gather and document quality evidence of programme implementation activities.
  • Implement and monitor programme activities, reporting results and anomalies observed in the field.
  • Support the programmes team in organizing and executing field activities.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and
  • Hold regular meetings with community members to understand their needs.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual action plans for key health-related activities.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the project.
  • Maintain regular consultation and liaison with development partners and stakeholders at community and district level.
  • Provide technical assistance, capacity building, and supervision to partners and beneficiaries in community-based delivery.
  • Monitor progress of project activities at community and district level and measure milestones towards project outcomes.
  • Mobilize local communities to fully participate in project activities.
  • Compile and submit timely, accurate periodic reports to the Project Officer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Field Officer or in a similar role on community-based WASH or water projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilization and capacity building.
    Knowledge of WASH infrastructure (e.g., boreholes, piped systems) is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of data collection methods, with proficiency in MS Office and basic data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to work across different teams and multi-task.
  • Willingness to work in remote rural communities, including harsh field conditions, with limited supervision.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Catholic values and principles.
