The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at Kamuzu International Airport.
Post: Maintenance Foreman (LH5)
Responsible to: Maintenance and Transport Manager
Responsible for: Maintenance Technicians
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the workshop is functioning properly in accordance with LIHACO standards and requirements of customer airlines and relevant authorities
- Ensure that the workshop is provided with necessary facilities, work space, equipment and supporting services as well as work environment to satisfy operational safety and security requirements at the station
- Ensure maintenance programmes and other manuals are kept in the workshop general office where all mechanics, electricians, general fitters can access and refer to them
- Set targets and standards for measuring and evaluating performance of mechanics, electricians and general fitters and operational effectiveness and efficiency of the workshop
- Ensure mechanics, electricians and general fitters read, understand and are familiar with relevant sections of Ground Handling Manual and Maintenance manuals
- Liaise with the Ramp and Load Control Duty Officer on the serviceability of equipment
- Assign tasks to workshop staff and supervise their performance
- Keep and maintain maintenance Records for auditing purposes
- Resolve safety and security issues arising from the workshop
- Maintain high levels of safety and security at the workshop
- Reporting hazards and safety risks in maintenance and transport operations
- Carrying out inspections on equipment and vehicles before use
- Conducting sectional meetings and appraising staff
- Consolidating maintenance records for GSE and vehicles
- Participate in Safety Action Group, meetings, Station Management Review meetings and customer airlines meetings
- Check the serviceability of fire extinguishers placed on GSEs
- Hold workshop review and other meetings
- Report incidents and accidents
- Prepare monthly and other reports as requested by the Maintenance & Transport Manager
- Instil and maintain discipline of all staff under him
Education and Qualification
Minimum of a Degree in Automobile Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
Two years’ experience in a busy workshop
