The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing at ZOMBA CITY COUNCIL.

POST: Principal Parks and Recreation Officer
GRADE: M4/G
SALARY: Within the range of Grade G/M4 salary scale segment

QUALIFICATION

Applicants must be in possession a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Recreation Management, Landscape Management, Horticulture, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, or an equivalent relevant qualification from an accredited and recognized university plus two (2) years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in parks, recreation, landscaping, horticulture, environmental management or local government.

DUTIES

• Planning and controlling all Parks, recreational and environmental functions in the City and controlling all Parks, recreational and environmental functions
• Promote technical integration of the environmental concerns into the socioeconomic development programs of the City.
• Assist in advising the Council and city residents on all matters pertaining to landscaping in the City.
• Ensuring the development and maintenance of Parks and recreational centers
• Ensuring that other directorates incorporate environmental issues in their undertakings.
• Supervising, guiding and training staff in the directorate.
• Preparing and controlling budget and expenditure of the directorate.
• Representing the City on technical and planning committee
