Programs Manager is a strategic leadership position responsible for planning, developing, scheduling, and overseeing television and radio programming in compliance with the organisation's objectives, audience expectations, and broadcasting standards.

A Programs Manager manages content conceptualisation and handles the production cycle, which includes content acquisition, production, scheduling, quality assurance, and performance evaluation. With strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, a Programs Manager collaborates with producers, presenters, journalists, marketing teams, advertisers, and technical staff to deliver engaging, informative, and entertaining content. They analyse audience ratings, viewer trends, and market research to make informed decisions about program development and scheduling while ensuring compliance with broadcasting regulations and ethical standards.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in media management from within the media sector locally or internationally.

The ideal candidate for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Have effective leadership skills, including ability to motivate teams
  • Have an analytical and strategic mindset
  • Have superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Have high level of integrity and ethical conduct
  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or any related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Possession of a relevant Master’s Degree will be an added advantage

Reporting to the Chief Media and Digitalisation Manager, the Programs Manager will be expected to deliver results in the following performance areas:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee television and radio programming strategies aligned with the organisation's vision, mission and audience needs
  • Plan, commission, schedule and coordinate television and radio programmes to ensure diverse, high-quality and engaging content
  • Supervise producers, presenters and production teams to ensure programmes meet editorial and broadcast standards
  • Monitor programme quality, ensuring compliance with broadcasting regulations, ethical guidelines and organisational policies
  • Develop and manage programme budgets, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources and cost-effective production
  • Analyse audience ratings, listener/viewer feedback and market trends to inform programming decisions and improve audience engagement
  • Coordinate the acquisition, development and production of local and syndicated content
  • Collaborate with the news, marketing, sales, digital media and technical departments to maximise programme reach and revenue opportunities
  • Promote cross-platform integration by adapting television and radio content for online, social media, and streaming platforms
  • Foster innovation, creativity, diversity and inclusion in programme development and content production
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior management in support of the organisation's strategic objectives
